Trump announces historic Hamas disarmament deal

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Board of Peace has reached what he described as a "historic" agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip.

Axar.az reports that Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social.

“This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks,” he said.

Trump said the agreement is a major milestone in the implementation of his 20-Point Plan and will be carried out in carefully structured phases.

“As disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw, and the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for Gaza being safe for its residents and its neighbors,” he added.

The U.S. president thanked Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye for their mediation efforts, as well as his negotiating team, saying their work had made the breakthrough possible.

“The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to rebuild,” Trump noted, adding that Gaza would ultimately be governed by a new Palestinian administration serving its people.

It should be noted that Al Hadath previously reported that Hamas and other Palestinian factions had accepted all the provisions of the agreement aimed at stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip.
