US diplomat: TRIPP could boost Armenia-Azerbaijan ties

The implementation of the TRIPP project could expand Azerbaijan's transport links with the wider region and create new opportunities for developing relations with Armenia.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that US Chargé d'Affaires in Armenia David Allen made these remarks.

According to him, the project envisages not only the development of railway connections but also other potential transport routes:

"As the company responsible for its implementation is established and the specific parameters of the route are determined, new opportunities will also emerge for the participation of non-governmental organisations. This is part of the process of establishing Azerbaijan's connectivity with the wider region. I hope that, within this process, we will also see the development of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I believe that non-governmental organisations can play a major role in this regard."

The diplomat also highlighted the activities of the Bridge of Peace organisation, which brings together civil society representatives and public activists from both countries:

"Such initiatives can contribute to the development of ties between Armenian and Azerbaijani societies."
