Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on April 19.
Axar.az reports that during the phone conversation, the Azerbaijani president’s official visit to Serbia in February this year was recalled with satisfaction, as well as the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia held with the participation of both heads of state. The importance of the documents signed during the visit in strengthening cooperation was emphasized.
The presidents of Azerbaijan and Serbia exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations and discussed plans for deepening economic cooperation, energy, investment, and the development of new joint projects of strategic importance for both countries.
Aleksandar Vucic once again expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s continued support to Serbia and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to developing relations with Azerbaijan in a spirit of sincere friendship, mutual respect, and shared interest in economic progress.
Vucic described all of this as a confirmation of strong partnership and mutual trust between the two countries. The Serbian president also said he would attend the 13th session of the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku next month.
During the phone call, satisfaction was expressed over the planned launch of direct flights by Serbia’s Air Serbia on the Belgrade–Baku route starting May 3, which was highlighted as an important step toward bringing the peoples closer together and strengthening the economies and tourism potential of both countries.
The heads of state also exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East and reiterated that the restoration of peace and stability is essential for regional security and development.
