Latvian President has invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to his country.
Axar.az reports that Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics made the statement during a joint briefing with President Aliyev in Baku.
“As you said, we have met many times. Mostly when I visited Baku as foreign minister, and later last year in Davos. I am now very pleased to express my great satisfaction in coming to your country on an official visit. Let me say that we are looking forward to welcoming you in Riga. We just calculated that nearly 10 years have passed since your last visit. There were COVID years and some other issues, but such exchanges are always beneficial for both countries. They create conditions for friendship between us and for political, economic, and cultural cooperation,” he said.
Rinkevics also noted that he first visited Baku in 2002 and has returned many times since.
“This is probably my sixth or seventh visit. I’ve lost count. I am always impressed when I see how much your country — especially your capital — has developed. Ministers and presidents usually do not see much beyond the capital. We know that you personally pay attention to these issues and are involved in the process,” he added.
