The second day of the diplomatic corps representatives’ visit to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories started in Shusha.
Axar.az informs that the diplomats, accompanied by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, visited the construction site of the New Shusha Mosque to review the ongoing efforts.
Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, provided information about the mosque project.
It was noted that the mosque’s foundation was laid in 2021 by President Ilham Aliyev. Its design reflects the number 8, symbolizing Victory Day—the day Shusha was liberated—while the two minarets represent the number 11, referring to the month of the city’s liberation. Each minaret will be 72 meters high. Shusha is well known for its historic mosques, and the New Shusha Mosque will add another architectural landmark to this rich heritage.
The diplomats then visited the Ghazanchi Church, later toured the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum.
