Former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo has appeared in another exposing video.
Axar.az reports, citing Minval Politika, the videos released today clearly show who is behind the hysteria surrounding the illegal structures demolished in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region in recent months. Armenian lobbyists are trying to portray those structures as “ancient churches.” Moreover, the footage also reveals which representatives of the Armenian authorities and members of Nikol Pashinyan’s inner circle were in contact with Luis Moreno Ocampo and effectively supported this campaign.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: We understand that a political agency may simply observe without interfering, and that is exactly what I do. I do the same with Armenia itself. Today, there is turmoil in Armenia because Pashinyan imprisoned two bishops. He is in a life-or-death struggle with the Armenian Church. He accused the Catholicos, who is like the Armenian Pope, of having a son — and it is true. My bishop in London is suffering greatly because of this. But I tell him: listen, we always say, ‘We do not interfere.
Unknown interlocutor: Doesn’t he create problems for you because you are involved in Armenian community affairs or represent it? He may oppose what the Armenian leadership wants to do. It seems some kind of blockade is forming.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: I have an understanding — not with Pashinyan himself, but with his foreign minister — that we would work on this to free Armenians and protect Nagorno-Karabakh. And we are never going to interfere in internal affairs.
Unknown interlocutor: Okay.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: That is why they thanked me. They believe external pressure benefits them because they cannot be aggressive in negotiations with Ilham Aliyev, so this is useful for them.
Unknown interlocutor: Tell me about the elections in…?
Luis Moreno Ocampo: In Armenia?
Unknown interlocutor: In Armenia. Right now they…
Luis Moreno Ocampo: In May. I always tell the government: ‘Listen, guys, I will never care about national interests.’
Unknown interlocutor: Because you told me you have good relations with the foreign minister…
Luis Moreno Ocampo: Yes, Armenia’s. But I promised him I would not… Look, they are doing terrible things because they imprisoned four bishops. The bishops campaigned against the government, and the government decided the bishops were working for Russia.
