The efforts of the European Union (EU) in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia are ineffective.

Axar.az reports that Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said this during a briefing held today.

"Every day we are more and more convinced that the EU has no contribution to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. On the contrary, the representatives of the EU are engaged in various provocations, intelligence activities, propaganda work," he stressed.

M. Zakharova said that the goal of the EU and NATO is not real assistance to the settlement of Azerbaijan-Armenia:

"The West continues to militarize the region, turning the South Caucasus into another field of geopolitical competition, ignoring the interests of the residents, and effectively put an end to the implementation of the tasks of peaceful development of the region shortly."
