We are closer to solving the issue (the signing of the peace agreement - ed.) than ever before. We were never close to it during the occupation. At that time, we could not even agree on basic principles.

Axar.az reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said these words at the international forum on "COP29 and Green Vision for Azerbaijan" held at ADA University on April 23.

Recalling that no agreement was reached on the "Madrid Principles" at that time, the head of state said that there was not even a draft peace agreement at that time. And now it already exists. "Now we have a common understanding of what a peace agreement should look like. We just have to work out the details. But, of course, both sides need time," added the head of state.
