On April 28, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

It was reported that Anthony Blinken first of all conveyed his congratulations on the agreement reached in the field of border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and emphasized that the United States appreciated it. The Secretary of State said that the United States is ready to continue to support the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the advancement of the peace agenda.

The head of state noted that the agreement reached by the delimitation commission of the two countries is the result of the discussions held on a bilateral basis in the conditions of dialogue and mutual understanding. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the start of demarcation works on the border of the two countries after the delimitation process is a positive step. The head of state said that the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia will soon meet in Almaty in accordance with the proposal of the Gazakh side to continue negotiations on the peace treaty. Reminding that the initiator of the peace agreement and the 5 principles that form its basis is the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that our country will spare no effort to continue the peace agenda and noted that Azerbaijan has a strong political will in this regard. The head of state said that Azerbaijan supports the establishment of an integrated South Caucasus regional cooperation model in the region without any dividing lines.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed his country's intention to strengthen bilateral relations between the United States and Azerbaijan and noted cooperation issues in the fields of energy, climate, transport, and COP29. The head of our state, in turn, emphasized that Azerbaijan is interested in developing bilateral relations with the United States.

During the telephone conversation, satisfaction with the cooperation between the delegations of Azerbaijan and the USA within the framework of COP29 was expressed.

Anthony Blinken positively evaluated the recent steps taken in Azerbaijan regarding human rights and expressed his wish for this to continue.

President Ilham Aliyev pointed out that Azerbaijan is committed to its obligations in the field of human rights and that democratic reforms are being continued in our country.
