On April 29, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the President of the Parliamentary Senate of Malaysia, Datuk Mutang Tagal.

Axar.az reports that the head of state stated that the bilateral relations between our countries are developing in a positive direction and emphasized that we hope that our relations will become more active in the economic field as well.

Touching on Malaysia's support to Azerbaijan in the international world, President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated Malaysia's continuous support to our country both during the occupation of our lands and after the liberation of our territories, which is our historical achievement, and the restoration of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. The President of Azerbaijan informed about our religious and historical monuments destroyed in those territories during the occupation of our lands by Armenians.

Noting the importance of Datuk Mutang Tagal's visit to our country in terms of the expansion of our relations, including the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the head of state said that this visit created a good opportunity to discuss the prospects of our relations.

First of all, Datuk Mutang Tagal conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and his congratulations once again to the head of state on the occasion of his re-election as president.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and congratulations, and asked to convey his greetings to the King of Malaysia.

During the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, our countries actively cooperated in the direction of strengthening this movement, and at the same time, Azerbaijan and Malaysia closely cooperated in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Despite the fact that our countries are located far from each other, the strong political relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia have created a good opportunity for the activation of cooperation in the areas of investment, trade and business circles.

At the meeting, issues of cooperation within the framework of COP29 were discussed.
