Fuad Oktay, the chairman of the foreign relations committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye (GNAT), who is visiting Washington, discussed the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia with members of the US Congress.

Axar.az reports that the parliamentarian said this in his statement to journalists.

He said that the parties also talked about bilateral issues: "In addition to our common interests with the US, we also have differences of opinion."

According to him, the parties also talked about the fight against terrorism: "If the USA stops supporting the YPG/PKK terrorist organization, a new page can be opened in bilateral relations. We also have differences of opinion regarding the situation in Gaza. The situation in Gaza was one of the main topics of our discussions.

One of the powers that can stop the war in the Middle East is the United States. For this reason, he should increase the pressure on Israel." Speaking about the war in Eastern Europe, F. Oktay noted that Turkiye supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine:

"We are having discussions with both Russia and the USA. We are working to bring Russia and Ukraine back to the negotiating table. We also do not consider unilateral sanctions to be correct.
