Sir Elton John has postponed several shows in Florida.
Axar.az report that the "Candle In the Wind" singer, 71, was scheduled to perform at Orlando's Amway Center Tuesday night, but the sold-out crowd was informed half an hour after showtime that the concert had been canceled.
John's representative, Fran Curtis, confirmed to USA TODAY that the Orlando stop on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was abruptly delayed due to "an ear infection."
Amway Center took to Twitter to spread the news: "We're sorry to announce that due to an ear infection, Elton John is unable to perform tonight. The rescheduled Orlando date will be announced in the near future so please hold onto your tickets."
everal media outlets speculated that the concert was canceled over a credible bomb threat, but the rumor was quickly dispelled.
"Any speculation or claims of a bomb threat are false and completely unfounded," City of Orlando Marketing Manager Tanya Bowley told USA TODAY. "Tonight’s cancellation was indeed due to Elton John’s ear infection as previously shared from the outset."
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which John billed as his final stretch of concerts before he retires from the road, will last an entire year, tentatively wrapping in September 2019.
