And The Carters looked set to break the internet once again as they spoofed the clip by accepting their BRIT Award for Best International Group in front of a painting of Meghan Markle.

Beyonce and Jay Z did not attend the British awards ceremony - a point picked up by host Jack Whitehall - so accepted the gong in a pre-recorded video.

In the clip, the couple stood in front of a Markle painting as Beyonce said: ‘Thank you so much to the BRIT Awards for this incredible honour. You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you.’

Jay Z added: ‘You’re welcome'.

Making a surprise appearance in the clip was Blue Ivy, who - although not being seen on screen - could be heard asking 'Why?' leaving her parents in hysterics.

Despite the clip going down a treat with the audience, it clearly irked Jack that none of the nominees for Best International Group - which had included First Aid Kit, Brockhampton, Chic & Nile Rodgers and Twenty-One Pilots - had shown up at the show.

The host quipped that none of them 'could be bothered' to attend, before taking aim at the winner of Best International Male.

'Why did you vote for Drake?' Jack lamented. 'He never shows up. Vote for Shawn Mendez, he had to take the day off school for this!'

The hottest stars in music headed to London's 02 areas in North Greenwich on Wednesday night in celebration of the 2019 BRIT Awards.

Host Jack was running the show for the second year in a row with P!nk being honoured for her career with the Outstanding Contribution To Music prize at the end of the evening.

Collecting the most awards on the night was 1975 with British Album of the Year for A Brief Inquiry into Online and British Group.

Calvin Harris also won two awards, collecting the gong for Best Producer and British Single for One Kiss with Dua Lipa.

New Rules hitmaker Dua, 23, was the most nominated artist of the night, for a second consecutive year.

One year after receiving a total of five nods, she had been nominated for four but only collected one, for British Single.
