57 years old Liverpool legend gets engaged to model

Wales football legend Ian Rush is set to marry his long-term partner Carol Anthony after popping the question.

Axar.az reports citing British media that, the former Liverpool and Juventus striker, 57, was married for 18 years to ex-wife Tracy but got divorced in 2015 before he then met former pop star Anthony.

They have been together for five years and Carol said "there's nothing in this world that you make me happier" after saying 'yes' to the proposal.

Anthony, 35, is a former Irish singer who previously went under the nave Havana and had a single, Dance Like That, which failed to chart.

She now runs a company called Home-run Productions and has recently launched her first fashion collection.

She's from Cork and joked that Rush had been introducing her to people as his wife — but the pair aren't yet married.

Rush was born in St Asaph and won 73 caps for his country, with his goal tally of 28 only recent surpassed by Gareth Bale.

He also won five league titles with Liverpool, three FA Cups, five League Cups and was named BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year in 1984.

He remains Liverpool's record goalscorer, now makes semi-regular appearances in the media and was an ambassador for Cardiff when the city hosted the Champions League final in 2017.

Anthony is a lifelong Liverpool fan and the pair are often spotted attending games together at Anfield.

She insists the age gap has never been an issue in their relationship.

"I have always been a Liverpool fan," she said. "I watched Ian play on TV when I was younger. My whole family are Liverpool fans.

“But I don’t see an age gap. I did once or twice when we first got together but I don’t any more. I’m trying to stop my ageing process but I think Ian looks better than ever.”
