Joker has officially overtaken Deadpool as the most successful R-rated film of all time, and Ryan Reynolds has congratulated the film in his own unconventional way.

Axar.az reports citing Independent that Despite its fair share of controversy, the film – starring Joaquin Phoenix – had already surpassed 2018's Venom to score the biggest October opening of all time.

Days after reports that Joker was on course to overtake Deadpool's global box office takings of $783m, the Todd Phillips-directed film managed to hit the $788.3m mark.

After Reynolds discovered the news, he posted a re-working of the Joker poster on Twitter, which features the phrase: "You motherf***er."
