French actor Gerard Depardieu has been charged with "sexual assault" against two women. The prosecutor has demanded that he be sentenced to 18 months in prison, pay a fine of 20,000 euros and be included in the sex offenders' register.
Axar.az reports that the information was published by French media.
During the trial, the prosecution presented Depardieu as a person who abused his authority and demanded a total of 77,500 euros in compensation from him.
The actor denied the allegations, saying that he was only acting harshly due to work conflicts.
"This is not violence, it is just harsh criticism. I am not one of those who touch women on the subway," Depardieu stressed.
Depardieu's legal problems do not end there. He is also facing new investigations into sexual assault against another woman and tax evasion.
Note that the court verdict will be announced on May 13.
