Trabzon and Shusha to become twin cities

The cities of Trabzon, Turkiye and Shusha, Azerbaijan's symbolic city, will officially become twin cities, said Ahmet Metin Genc, Mayor of Trabzon.

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, he stated that a protocol will be signed between the two cities to formalize the partnership.

Speaking at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Genc emphasized that the right to housing and the climate crisis cannot be considered separately.

The mayor, using Trabzon as an example, drew attention to the impact of housing on energy consumption and carbon emissions, stressing the importance of low‑carbon, disaster‑resilient, and socially just urban policies for sustainable cities.
