The farmer who stabbed 61-year-old Hilal Isayev, the mayor of the city of Pyatykhatky in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, has been detained.
Axar.az reports that the information was provided to Azertac by diaspora activist Eldar Taghiyev, who lives in Dnipro.
Sarkhosh Ismayilov from the League of Azerbaijanis of the Dnipropetrovsk Region, diaspora activists Eldar Taghiyev and Parviz Aliyev, as well as Azerbaijani compatriots living in Kryvyi Rih, visited the hospital where Hilal Isayev is being treated.
“We visited our compatriot. Hilal Isayev is currently receiving treatment in intensive care. Since he sustained severe stab wounds, his treatment is continuing in the intensive care unit for now,” Eldar Taghiyev added.
A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
It should be noted that Hilal Isayev was born in the village of Livedirga in Azerbaijan’s Lerik district and graduated from the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economics University. He headed the private agricultural enterprise “Kaspiy” and, in 2015, was elected a deputy of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council from the Batkivshchyna party. In 2019, Isayev ran for the 9th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada from the same party but was not elected. He has served as mayor of Pyatykhatky since 2020.
