Ramiz Ansarov elected mayor of Moldova’s Orhei

Azerbaijani compatriot Ramiz Ansarov, who lives in Moldova, has won the second round of the mayoral election in the city of Orhei, according to preliminary results.

Axar.az reports that Ansarov himself confirmed the information.

More than 58 percent of voters supported Ansarov in the runoff election held on May 31.

It is worth noting that Ansarov also received the highest number of votes among all candidates in the first round of voting on May 17.

Born on April 12, 1987, in Chisinau, Ansarov is originally from Western Azerbaijan. His father was born and raised in the Barana (Noyemberyan) region before the family later moved to Baku. A father of four sons, Ansarov is active in Moldova’s public and political life and also serves as vice president of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Moldova.
