Pope sent a letter to Ilham Aliyev

Pope Francis sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Axar.az reports that the letter states:

"On the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Independence Day, I convey to you my wishes for peace and prosperity in your country, as well as my sincere congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the birth of your father, His Excellency Mr Heydar Aliyev.

The efforts of the great Heydar Aliyev in the direction of the development of Azerbaijan and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Holy See will always be remembered with gratitude. I pray to the Almighty God to grant Azerbaijan and its people progress, prosperity, good health and peace in the future.

Dear President, I wish you new success in your work as a supreme state, and God's blessings to all your compatriots."
