On May 1, the opening ceremony of the VI World Intercultural Dialogue Forum on "Dialogue for peace and global security" was held at the Baku Congress Center.

President Ilham Aliyev made a speech at the opening ceremony of the Forum.

It should be noted that the Forum is organized by the government of Azerbaijan, in partnership with UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the World Tourism Organization and ICESCO. 700 distinguished guests representing more than 100 countries are participating in the event.

High-level statesmen, heads of parliament, religious leaders, scholars, journalists, and participants from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds came together to advance peace and global security through meaningful dialogue.

It is planned to hold 4 plenary sessions and 12 panel discussions within the framework of the three-day Forum. Topics to be discussed include education, youth, climate change, artificial intelligence, protection of cultural heritage, illegal migration and other areas.

It is expected that the participants of the forum will visit the territories of Azerbaijan freed from the 30-year occupation. Within the framework of the event, it is planned to hold special panel sessions in Agdam and Shusha. At the same time, this is an opportunity to create a platform to appeal to the international community from the territories freed from occupation by Azerbaijan.

It should be recalled that the World Intercultural Dialogue Forum, which is considered a part of the "Baku Process" on intercultural dialogue proposed by President Ilham Aliyev in 2008, was held in Baku for the first time in 2011, and then in 2013, 2015, 2017 and It was organized in 2019. During the past period, the geography of the Forum has greatly expanded, and the number of countries and organizations participating in the event has increased significantly. More than 10,000 participants - government officials, leaders and representatives from international organizations and institutions - attended the forums. At the same time, more than 200 events of various formats and scales, plenary and panel discussions, and presentations were organized within the forums. Discussions conducted within the framework of the last five Forums, where the global challenges that concern humanity became the focus of attention, the documents compiled played the role of the main reference for international organizations, and the "Baku Process" was recognized as an important platform for intercultural dialogue.
