Natural gas from Azerbaijan has reached Syria’s Homs province via the Turkiye–Syria Natural Gas Pipeline.

Axar.az reports, citing TRT Haber, that Azerbaijani gas was delivered through the Turkiye–Syria natural gas pipeline to the Jandar Gas Station in Homs province.

From there, the gas will be directed to the Nasiriyah and Tishreen thermal power plants near the capital Damascus.

According to Syrian Deputy Energy Minister Qayyaz Diab, 1.4 million cubic meters of gas are currently transmitted daily, enabling the production of 250 megawatts of electricity. Under a new agreement, the volume is planned to be increased to 6 million cubic meters per day, allowing households to receive up to 8 hours of electricity daily.

It is noted that the first flow of Azerbaijani gas from Turkiye to Syria began on August 2.
