Nuclear energy is a vital energy source for Kazakhstan. Currently, 416 nuclear reactors are operating worldwide.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to him, the United States operates 94 nuclear reactors but does not produce enough uranium:
“Kazakhstan supplies 24 percent of this fuel to the American market. A similar situation exists in France, where more than 50 power plants purchase uranium extracted in our country. Currently, 31 countries produce energy through nuclear power plants. Thus, one out of every six states uses peaceful nuclear energy, and nearly 20 other countries are planning to build nuclear reactors.”
Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan will not limit itself to just one nuclear power plant.
