In the U.S., the Supreme Court has granted the Trump administration the authority to freeze the $4 billion foreign aid fund allocated by Congress.
Axar.az reports that this was stated in a ruling by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan.
“Today’s stay, adopted by a majority vote, suspends the enforcement of the lower court decision regarding the ‘provision of foreign aid.’ As a result, the funds will not be delivered to their intended recipients,” the ruling stated.
It is noted that the appeal was filed by the Trump administration on September 5, following the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington against the administration. According to the lower court’s ruling, the Trump administration was required to spend at least $4 billion from previously Congress-approved foreign aid funds by September 30.
