Azerbaijani gas could reach Serbia after 2027

Azerbaijani gas supplies to Serbia could become possible after 2027 via a planned gas interconnector between Greece and North Macedonia.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, that Russia’s newly appointed ambassador to North Macedonia, Dmitry Zykov, made the statement in his first interview with the Russian news agency.

He noted that once the Greece–North Macedonia gas interconnector is completed — with construction scheduled to begin in July 2025 and commissioning planned for 2027 — gas will be able to flow bypassing Bulgaria.

Zykov added that if a separate interconnector project between North Macedonia and Serbia is implemented, currently in the preparatory stage, Azerbaijani gas could also be supplied to Serbia.
