Putin replaces Dagestan head in leadership reshuffle

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Fyodor Shchukin as acting head of the Republic of Dagestan.

Axar.az informs that, the relevant decree was published on Russia’s official legal information portal.

The document also accepted the resignation of former regional head Sergey Melikov, who submitted a request for early termination of his powers at his own initiative.

Under the decree, Shchukin will serve as acting head of the region until the person elected as head of the Republic of Dagestan officially takes office. The decree entered into force on the day it was signed.
