Two killed in blast at Kazakhstan’s Kazzinc plant -

Two people were killed and another five were injured in an explosion and subsequent fire at the Kazzinc plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Axar.az informs, citing the Kazinform International News Agency, that according to the company’s press service, the incident occurred on the morning of May 5 during production operations.

“During the cleaning of a smoke exhauster, an explosion occurred, followed by a fire and partial structural collapse. As a result, two people were killed and five others were injured. All necessary medical assistance is being provided to the injured,” the company said.

Emergency services remain at the scene, working to eliminate the incident consequences. A special commission has been established to investigate the cause and circumstances of the explosion.
