Chernobyl wildfire expands beyond 1,100 hectares -

Large-scale forest fires have broken out in the exclusion zone around Chornobyl.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, that strong winds are causing the flames to spread rapidly, affecting new forest areas. The fire has already spread over more than 1,100 hectares.

Authorities said dry weather conditions and the presence of landmines are making firefighting efforts difficult.

Emergency services, special equipment, and other relevant agencies have been deployed to the scene.
