Three hikers killed after Mount Dukono eruption

Three hikers were killed after Mount Dukono erupted in Indonesia on Friday morning.

Axar.az reports that the victims included two foreign nationals and one Indonesian citizen.

According to police, 15 people were taken to hospital with injuries after a group of 20 hikers went missing following the eruption.

Authorities are investigating why the hike proceeded despite warnings advising against climbing the volcano.

Indonesia’s Volcanological Survey said the eruption occurred at 07:41 local time, sending an ash column around 10 kilometres into the sky.
