EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova has strongly criticized Russia, accusing it of hypocrisy and intimidation after renewed warnings for diplomats and foreign nationals to leave Kyiv.
Axar.az reports that in a Facebook post, Mathernova said Russia is once again threatening diplomats and foreigners and attempting to create fear and isolation in Ukraine.
"Today’s statement of the russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a masterpiece of hypocrisy.
A regime that has spent years bombing residential buildings, museums, maternity wards, schools and power stations now suddenly speaks the language of “international humanitarian law” and “Geneva conventions," she said.
Mathernova stressed that the European Union will not leave Kyiv, saying EU diplomats will remain in Ukraine and continue their work despite threats.
"The same regime that launches nightly missile and drone attacks on civilians now warns others to stay away.
We understand exactly what this means. Russia wants fear. Panic. Isolation of Ukraine. It will not work.
The EU is not going anywhere. We are staying in Kyiv. We are staying with Ukraine," she emphasized.
She added that such warnings are not a sign of strength but of desperation, and said Russia’s actions demonstrate its inability to break Ukraine’s resilience or weaken international support for the country.
