Pope Leo XIV warns against polarization and hatred

Pope Leo XIV has called for unity, peace, and spiritual renewal during his Sunday Angelus message marking the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity in St. Peter’s Square.

Axar.az reports, citing the Vatican, reflecting on the Gospel reading about Nicodemus, the Pope said the Christian faith is rooted in “a dynamic, inexhaustible communion” with God, adding that the Holy Spirit draws believers into a life of relationship and love.

“The life of God is marvelous and captivating; it gives peace to our heart, which is often very restless,” he said, urging the faithful to embrace communion rather than division.

Pope Leo warned against polarization and contempt, saying these “bring destruction, sadness and barrenness to the world,” while emphasizing that the Trinity calls believers toward encounter and fraternity.

Quoting the Gospel of John, he recalled: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son… not to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

In his concluding remarks, the Pope encouraged prayers for peace amid global conflicts and urged leaders to pursue “a sincere search for a just and lasting peace.”
