Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has submitted a formal resignation letter to the Office of the Supreme Leader.
Axar.az reports, citing Iran International, the letter, sent on Sunday, argues that the president and cabinet have been largely excluded from key national decision-making, with power increasingly concentrated in the hands of hardline Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders.
Pezeshkian is said to have written that, under current conditions, he is unable to effectively govern or fulfill his constitutional duties, and has therefore requested to step down immediately.
It remains unclear whether the resignation would be accepted. The report comes amid months of reported tensions between Iran’s civilian administration and powerful security institutions, with alleged IRGC influence expanding across major state functions.
Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed the resignation at this time.
