Russia eyes Baku or Yerevan for next 3+3 meeting

Russia expects that the next foreign ministers’ meeting in the “3+3” format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and their three neighbors — Russia, Turkiye, and Iran) on the South Caucasus will be held in either Baku or Yerevan, with discussions on the matter ongoing.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“We expect the next meeting of ministers to be held either in Baku or Yerevan. As we understand, negotiations on this issue are continuing between our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues,” he said.

He also noted the importance of Georgia’s participation in the format.

“I would especially like to welcome the participation of a representative from Georgia’s expert community in our discussion. For us, as well as, I am sure, for all participants of the platform, Georgia remains an important partner, without which the prospects of the ‘3+3’ format are unlikely to be fully realized,” Galuzin added.
