Mirzoyan comments on incident involving Azerbaijani shepherd

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said that incidents involving people accidentally crossing the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan can happen, adding that both sides approach such cases constructively.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Mirzoyan made the remarks while commenting on reports that an Azerbaijani shepherd had crossed the Armenian border.

"Such incidents sometimes happen. It is possible for an Azerbaijani shepherd to lose his way. However, the same thing could happen on our side as well. Both sides approach such incidents constructively," he said.

“Incidents similar to the Sheki incident could also occur. It should be noted that both sides have demonstrated a sufficiently constructive approach to this issue. Such incidents cannot be ruled out in real life. The only way to prevent them would be to build a wall. I hope that instead of building a wall, we will take more joint steps to resolve these issues.

I know that this also has its downsides. But what should we do? Should we say that we are stopping everything, shutting ourselves off and returning to conflict? That is not the best path for Armenia,” Mirzoyan added.
