If Sweden and Finland join the alliance, they could split NATO.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Adalbi Shkhagoshev, a member of the Russian State Duma's Security and Anti-Corruption Committee.

"The balance of power in NATO is so unfavourable for new members that it can simply split the alliance. Especially against the background of dissatisfaction of Turkey, which is the oldest member - I will not say the rest. Even if Finland and Sweden become members of NATO, it will further increase the differences and dissatisfaction of its other members," Shkhagoshev said.
