Turkiye is a country with deep diplomatic and strategic ties with both Azerbaijan and Russia. We are closely following the tension and call on both countries to remain calm.

Axar.az informs, citing APА, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists following his visit to Azerbaijan.

He stated that Turkiye believes the issue can be resolved more easily and effectively through statements that de-escalate diplomatic tensions.

"I hope the negative developments between the two countries will end as soon as possible. Our greatest wish is that these unpleasant incidents do not cause irreparable damage to relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. It is possible to resolve local incidents and their consequences without taking them out of context."

Erdogan also noted that he discussed this issue with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his visit:

"Mr. Ilham is taking very cautious and measured steps here. He is not in favor of escalating the situation."
