US President Donald Trump has expressed deep disappointment with the Kremlin's policy, giving Vladimir Putin just 10 days to cease fire in Ukraine, threatening to impose new economic sanctions if he refuses. This is the second ultimatum from the American leader in recent months: the previous deadline was 50 days.
Axar.az informs that the Atlantic Council analytical center reported on this.
According to the report, Trump is offering Putin peace on terms that are quite favorable for Russia, but he does not agree with it:
"Trump's new step is a sharp turn from previous diplomacy, in which the United States offered concessions to Russia in exchange for de-escalation. Trump even considered recognizing the annexation of Crimea, the White House avoided openly criticizing the Kremlin, and did not support initiatives to hold Russia accountable for war crimes. The turning point was Trump's agreement to arm Ukraine through its European allies, which many consider a belated but important step."
