Iraqi President invited to World Urban Forum in Baku

Iraqi President Nizar Abidi has been invited to attend the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) to be held in Baku.

Axar.az reports that the invitation letter from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was presented by Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Iraq, Eldar Salimov.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, their further strengthening, as well as recent international and regional issues. Ambassador Salimov also delivered a congratulatory letter from the Azerbaijani head of state on the occasion of Abidi’s election as President of Iraq.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, Nizar Abidi thanked Azerbaijan for its assistance to Iraq during the COVID-19 pandemic and for its support within international organizations, and emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation and partnership.
