Tugrul Bashar, who had been wanted since 2018, was arrested in Istanbul, Turkiye, after police identified his whereabouts.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the Istanbul Police Department’s Fugitive Persons Bureau launched an operation to locate Bashar, who had a finalized prison sentence for theft in Samsun in 2010. Police determined that he had been using his sister’s identity information and disguising himself in women’s clothing to avoid detection.

Police tracked Bashar's movements before carrying out an operation in Kadikoy district, where he was taken into custody.

Bashar also faces proceedings for using another person’s identity information. He was handed over to the Kadikoy Iskele Police Station for further legal proceedings.
