Armenia moves to recall consul after public criticism

The Armenian government is recalling Armenia’s honorary consul in Yekaterinburg, Narek Spartakyan.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media reports, that the reason for this decision is Spartakyan’s disagreement with the Armenian government’s position regarding the Apostolic Church and the arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan in Russia.

In an interview, Spartakyan stated that such actions against the church are unacceptable. He also said that he lives in Yekaterinburg and intends to remain there.
