Mines are not only relics of the past, but are a constant threat to both people and animals.

Axar.az reports that Hikmet Hajiyev, Head of the Department of the Presidential Administration, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, wrote this on his X account.

He noted that this time, the victim of anti-personnel mines placed by Armenia in the mountains of Kalbajar during the occupation was a dog:

“Thankfully, the prompt intervention of the Azerbaijani military medical brigade ensured that he was provided with emergency medical assistance. His life is no longer in danger.”

At the same time, he said that since 2020, more than 400 Azerbaijani citizens and servicemen have been victims of mines placed by Armenia.

In addition, he emphasized that mines buried underground cause soil erosion and destroy local vegetation.
