Netanyahu rejects Hezbollah ceasefire as part of Iran deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will not agree to halt its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon as part of any potential broader settlement involving Iran.

Axar.az reports that Netanyahu made the remarks in an interview with CBS News.

Responding to a question on whether Israel could accept a ceasefire involving Hezbollah if Iran-related negotiations progress, Netanyahu said: “No. No, we've said… we want to get rid of that danger to our communities, to our cities. They rocket our cities all the time.”

The Prime Minister also argued that a major weakening of Iran—or a potential change of regime—would have far-reaching consequences for Tehran’s regional allies.

“If this regime is indeed weakened or possibly toppled, I think it's the end of Hezbollah, it's the end of Hamas, it's probably the end of the Houthis,” Netanyahu said.
