No injuries after smoke incident on Kathmandu flight

Passengers on a Turkish Airlines Istanbul–Kathmandu flight were evacuated after smoke was observed in the landing gear following landing at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

Axar.az reports, according to the Turkish Airlines Communications Director Yahya Ustun, after the aircraft’s normal landing, smoke was detected in the landing gear while taxiing on the runway.

“In accordance with air traffic control instructions, a safety slide was deployed, and passengers were evacuated as a precaution. The evacuation was completed successfully, and no injuries were reported,” Ustun said.

He added that technical inspections have been launched, and preliminary findings suggest the smoke may have been caused by a hydraulic pipe malfunction.
