The oil pipeline belonging to NATO was damaged as a result of road construction in Kocaeli, Turkiye.

Axar.az informs that the Turkish press reported on this.

According to information, fuel oil flowing from the pipeline leaked into the nearby Sapanca lake.

It was reported that relevant institutions have started to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

According to the information provided by the local water and canal administration, since the polluted part of the lake is located far from the intake points, there will be no problem in providing citizens with drinking water.

It should be noted that the oil pipeline with a length of more than 3 thousand kilometres passing through the territory of Turkiye meets the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and NATO forces.
