Public hearings regarding the application of the international convention on the abolition of all forms of racial discrimination within the framework of the claim filed by Azerbaijan against Armenia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague have ended.

Axar.az reports that the International Court of Justice has now the judges have started discussions.

The court's decision on preliminary objections will be made in an open session and will be announced in due course.

In its arguments, Azerbaijan appealed to the court and requested that each of the preliminary objections put forward by Armenia in its final presentation dated April 24, 2024, is rejected on the basis that there are no substantial objections to the jurisdiction of the court or the admissibility of Azerbaijan's demands.

Alternatively, Azerbaijan asked the court to dismiss each of these preliminary objections because they raise issues relevant to the merits of the case.
