Despite all the propaganda and coercion of the Iranian government, Iranians refuse to join the government-initiated aid campaign for the Gaza Strip. This is evident from the small amount of aid announced by the government.
Axar.az reports that according to the latest official statistics, since October 7, 2023, the aid collected for Gaza by the citizens of the country with a population of about 90 million is equal to 160 billion Tumans - approximately 2 million 800 thousand dollars.
During that period, the citizens collected several times more funds than the aid collected for Gaza for those affected by floods and other such natural disasters.
Most of the $2.8 million raised for Gaza does not come from voluntary donations. This amount was forcibly transferred to the aid account from the salaries of employees working in state institutions.
Therefore, it can be said that the efforts of government agencies, especially the Red Crescent Society and the religious centers in Qom, which organized continuous campaigns to collect aid to Gaza, have completely failed.
At the same time, the Iranian slogan "Sacrifice neither Gaza nor Lebanon, my life to Iran" has come up again, condemning the government's policy towards Israel and support for Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah.
This slogan, which was first voiced on September 18, 2009, as a protest against the government's "Jerusalem Day" action, has become fashionable again in recent months, it is heard in demonstrations and written on the walls of the city streets.
