The Syrian Ministry of Defense and security forces have announced the closure of all roads leading to the country's coastal regions.

Axar.az reports that the SANA state agency reported that the government took this step in response to armed clashes in the city of Jableh, several areas of Latakia city, and the mountainous regions of Tartus province.

It is noted that intense fighting is ongoing between Syrian security forces and Assad supporters. Authorities have also imposed a curfew in certain areas. Syria’s interim president, Ahmad al-Shara, has called on the opposing side to lay down their weapons.
