Telegram messenger blocked in Dagestan and Chechnya

The blocking of the Telegram messenger in Dagestan and Chechnya is a necessary measure.

Axar.az informs that this was stated by Dagestan’s Minister of Digital Development, Yuri Hamzatov.

He emphasized that blocking of the messenger is not a test but a matter of information security:

“The decision to block the resource in the republics was made at the federal level based on a request from law enforcement agencies. The decision was taken after the riots at Makhachkala Airport on October 29, 2023. At that time, Telegram was used by the participants of the riots.”

The minister noted that Telegram may be unblocked in the future.
