After 22 days in hiding, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appeared publicly at an Ashura mourning ceremony held at his office.
Axar.az reports that his last public appearance was on June 10, just before Israel’s attacks. During his absence, he released only three video messages, prompting political backlash, especially given his past promises to be present during wartime.
In response to growing rumors, the Persian-language Mossad account on platform X denied reports of Khamenei’s death, confirming he is alive.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he saved Khamenei from a “disgraceful death” during the recent Iran-Israel conflict by preventing Israeli or U.S. forces from killing him. Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Trump’s remarks as offensive and contrary to diplomatic norms.
Khamenei has led the Islamic Republic since 1989, following the death of Ayatollah Khomeini.
