The Big Deal and the Ceasefire. The Big Deal between the U.S. and Ukraine is changing the political situation around peace negotiations.
Axar.az reports that Russian political scientist Sergey Markov wrote this on Telegram.
The political scientist has commented on the agreement from several aspects:
1.One of the reasons for Trump’s poor relationship with Zelensky is removed — Zelensky's refusal to sign the Big Deal with the U.S. Zelensky has signed it.
2.Trump becomes sharply critical of Russia's statements about the illegitimacy of Zelensky's signature on any peace agreements. Does this mean that the Big Deal is also illegitimate?
3.The U.S. starts to consider itself as a kind of co-owner of Ukraine. Therefore, they will adopt a position they see as pro-Ukrainian.
4.The U.S. will also be more interested in peace in Ukraine because the Fund can only begin to work profitably once there is peace.
5.Trump has created a mechanism to justify new spending on the Ukrainian war. Now it is not about throwing money into a pit, but rather about Ukraine’s debt and the U.S. investment in future profits.
6.Therefore, the signing of the Big Deal between the U.S. and Ukraine complicates Russia's ability to achieve its goals through peace negotiations.
7.For Russia, this creates a tougher dilemma: either give up its positions or continue the war.
8.This means that within Russia, the conditional battle between the "inconvenient peace" and "continuation of the special military operation" parties will intensify.
